India–UK Trade Deal: Govt Launches 1,000 Outreach Drives Across Nation
The Government of India is gearing up to roll out over 1,000 outreach programmes across the country in the next 20 days to spread awareness about the recently signed India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). This deal, hailed as a game-changer, aims to boost trade, create jobs, and open up new opportunities for Indian businesses in the UK market.
The Ministry of Commerce confirmed that these awareness drives will target major trade hubs, chambers of commerce, universities, and export-oriented clusters. Government officials and trade experts will guide local stakeholders on how to take full advantage of the benefits offered under CETA.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal called this move “a step towards inclusive economic growth” and emphasized the need for mass participation from startups and MSMEs. This agreement is expected to bring in over ₹3 lakh crore in trade revenue over the next five years.
The UK High Commissioner to India also praised the partnership, calling it “one of the strongest India–UK trade alignments in history.
